New Ester Collection at Designing Nicky Ree

Hi

I have just released this week's new collection called "Ester". This collection comes in various colours filled with various options for flexi skirt styles.

Ester is 100% hand drawn and is available in sets with embroidery detailing and in plain coloured versions. Each of these sets comes with 2 long flexi skirt options and a short flexi dress skirt style.

There is a special group discount for the sets in purple for a week. So members remember to wear your group tag before buying from the special group vendors to enjoy the big savings when purchasing the purple coloured sets.

This collection is available only in my main store in Tropical Orchid.

A simple tip for older prim attachements in Windlight

Hi :)

Some of us may have experienced this.

Our older dresses with prim attachments worked and looked fine before windlight. But with the new viewer with windlight the prims now look brighter and do not match the system skirt, pants etc...

Tinting can solve this. First make a copy of the prim attachment ( if it is copiable ) wear the copy, right click edit and select the texture tab. In the texture window, select the colour box and another window with colour tints appear, select the lightest grey ( if you like you can further adjusted the darkness, lightness by the slider on the side ). This usually fixes the problem and the prims now match the system clothings.

Satin Shine Cocktail Dresses

Hi hi :)

I am late in blogging about my latest release: Satin Shine Cocktail Dresses. I have been swamped with work both sl related and real life. I will be even busier the coming months.

The cut is taken from my older collection "Spring Romance" combined with my hand drawn shading texture for folds, shadow and creases taken from my "Julia Collection". The flower pattern used for the skirt fabric is my original hand drawn illustrations.

Hope you like the new dresses. At the moment they are only available in my main store in Tropical Orchid.

I have finally managed to finish packing the vendors for "Florence". This collection comes in: Combo (containing all optional styles for the skirts), Svelte with Train and Grandeur with Evening Gown.

Designing Nicky Ree's presence in Glam World

Recently there has been a lot of controversy and drama surrounding one of Minnu's skins. There has been a debate about whether one of her skins was copied from Danae (on Renderosity), whether this copying was legal, whether it was moral, and who said what where. I have been very busy working on my recent releases, so I only started reading the details about this recently.

This drama has lasted for a few weeks now and it doesn't look like it will end soon. I think this is something to work out between Minnu and Danae. I think both are talented designers in their own right, so I hope they can come to a good resolution.

Designing Nicky Ree has an outlet in Minnu's Glam World. I have decided to remove my outlet there. This has two reasons:

* I have now spent enough time reading about this in several blogs and forums. I have decided these discussions are not a productive way to spend my time. The presence of my store in Glam World inevitably involves me in this debate, and I do not want to be caught up in this debate.

* As someone who has had their content illegally reused, I care very much about the problem of content theft. I do not know whether content theft took place here; the legal and moral aspects of this case seem complicated to me. I don't think I have much that is useful to add to this debate. I have decided to possibly err on the side of caution, and thus withdraw my presence in Glam World.

I hope both Minnu and Danae will resolve this in a good way.

I sincerely hope this will be my last contribution to this discussion.

Thank You for attending the Spring Ball!

Hi hi ;)

The Spring Ball was fun and I hope those who managed to attend enjoyed themselves. I was in such a busy dizzy weeks prior to the ball. I designed 7 new outfits for the ball and only managed to finish some of the vendors for them. Fleur Skins did wonderful work on the matching makeups and CJ Carnot did a fabulous job on the design and creation of a lovely romantic ballroom.

I have finally managed to release "Lady Edwina Gowns", "Lord Edward Baroque Suits" and "Gorgeous Elizabeth Gowns" ---- yes had many IMs asking when it would be released ;).

For my Elizabeth collection, Random Calliope made a delicate matching set of jewellery for it, as you can see in the picture above. It is really fun to have such talented people working in collaboration. Many thanks to those who have contributed and helped in the production of the Ball and in the making of the items to compliment my clothings and Fleur Skins makeup.

I still need to work on the vendors for "Florence" and will do that asap. For those whose notecards and msg I have been late in replying, I must apologise, I have been working round the clock to get things done and I needed to finally "crash" and catchup on sleep ;). I will hopefully be on track again in a couple of days.

Meanwhile :) I hope you will enjoy these new releases.

2 new releases today :)

Hi I have finally finished preparing the vendors for "Le Fleur" and "Elegant Laura".

Le Fleur is a project that I have wanted to do in a long while. To create and complete this baroque gown, I called upon the talents of various people.

Roslin Petion (Fleur Skins) made the beautiful makeup.
Siyu Suen (Illusions) made the fantastic masks.
Alienbear Gupte (BijouxOr Design) created the grand looking jewellery.
Tigerlily Koi (Calla Hair) made the elegant and stylish hair style.

Many thanks to all for the collaborative effort.

Elegant Laura is a modern and elegant gown based on sleek lines and curves with a different style and way of using flexi prims. This gown is available in many colours in my main store in Tropical Orchid. The hair in the poster is a collaborative work by Leetah Moxie (Curl up and Dye Salon).

This gown is 100% original illustration by me. The lace details, the embroidery for the flowers, the fabric textures were all created from my original sketches and illustrated in photoshop. No pictorial photo sourcing were used in the production of the gowns.

More Designs soon to be revealed!

I have been very busy these past few weeks, working on a new collection which I will reveal nearer towards 17th May. Fleur Skins and Designing Nicky Ree will be having a Spring Ball on the 17th of May to showcase some of our collaboration work. I will be releasing and showing 6 new gowns a couple of days prior to the Ball. Le Fleur has made wonderful makeups to match the gowns and talented designers like Random Calliope, Alienbear Gupt, Tigerlily Koi (Calla hair), Siyu Suen (illusions)to name a few have helped me put together a style and look for some of my new designs.

So hope to see you on the 17th May from 12 noon SLT till 3pm SLT.

And after all that, and you still have energy, do join RFL at their ball from 3pm SLT. I will post more details when I have them.

The weather has been great these few days and that made me think of summer and colours and all things tropical. So I have done an early release of one of my new Summer Beach Wear collection. Introducing my "Jacinta" beachwear collection.
